Old old fashioned

Went up into the mountains yesterday with my LLM (lovely logger man) and our doggies.  Took a look at a place on an acre surrounded by pasture land – for the area it was in, there were just too many houses right around that particular place.  But the views were absolutely spectacular!  Plus it was pretty close to Missoula, so the commute would have been just fine.  Then we took a ride up Petty Creek to try to find a place on 20 acres with a little cabin.  But true to the listing agent’s reputation, couldn’t find the place to save our lives.  But the drive was nice.

I contacted a Realtor (the one who had the one acre place listed) and she’ll start feeding me leads on properties within 30 miles of town that can be financed via FHA.  I’m just happy to have begun the process, and I know if I’m patient, the right place will happen along.

In the meantime, I came across these lyrics on the Cold Antler Farm blog, and they really spoke to me and my neo-Luddite sensibilities.  If only I could get my computer to run on Squirrel power.  🙂

Old Old Fashioned

I’ll turn off the TV
It’s killing us, we never speak
There’s a radio in the corner
It’s dying to make a scene
So give me soft, soft static
With a human voice underneath
And we can both get old fashioned
Put the brakes on these fast, fast wheels
Oh let’s get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?

Put the wall clock in the top drawer
Turn off the lights so we can see
We will waltz across the carpet
1-2-3-2-2-3
So give me the soft, soft static
Of the open fire and the shuffle of our feet
We can both get old fashioned
Do it like they did in ’43
Oh let’s get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?

So give me soft, soft static
We won’t need no electricity
If we both get old fashioned
We won’t have to rely on our memories
Oh let’s get old fashioned
Back to how things used to be
If I get old, old fashioned
Would you get old, old fashioned with me?
